How to properly cleanse your skin (because most people are doing it wrong)
Cleansing seems simple… but it’s one of the biggest reasons people struggle with dryness, breakouts, congestion, and irritation.
A good cleanse should remove dirt, oil, SPF, sweat, and buildup without stripping your skin.
If your face feels tight or squeaky after cleansing, your skin barrier is probably not happy.
Here’s how to properly cleanse:
✔ Use lukewarm water
Hot water can increase redness, dryness, and irritation.
✔ Cleanse for at least 60 seconds
Most people wash for 10–15 seconds and wonder why they still feel congested.
✔ Don’t aggressively scrub
Your skin is not a dirty dish.
✔ Use a gentle cleanser that supports the barrier
Harsh cleansers can trigger more oil production, sensitivity, and inflammation.
✔ Double cleanse if needed
Especially if you wear makeup, SPF, or work in sweat/oil/dust.
✔ Pat dry don’t rub aggressively
Your towel shouldn’t exfoliate your face.
This is exactly why I love the MeauxCo Cleanse.
It gives a gentle but effective cleanse without leaving the skin stripped or tight, making it ideal for dry, sensitive, acne-prone, and barrier-compromised skin.
Healthy skin starts with a healthy cleanse.
Sometimes better skin isn’t about adding more products… it’s about going back to the basics and doing them correctly.

So much goodness here!
