How often should YOU exfoliate? (Based on your skin type) ✨
One of the biggest skincare mistakes I see is people exfoliating based on trends instead of what their skin actually needs.
More exfoliation does NOT mean faster results.
Healthy exfoliation should help:
✔ Smooth texture
✔ Brighten dull skin
✔ Support cell turnover
✔ Improve congestion
✔ Help products absorb better
…but overdoing it can lead to:
❌ Redness
❌ Sensitivity
❌ Barrier damage
❌ Inflammation
❌ Breakouts that seem “random”
So how often should you exfoliate?
✨ Dry or Sensitive Skin:
Usually 1x a week
Focus on gentle exfoliation + hydration support.
✨ Normal/Combination Skin:
1–3x weekly depending on tolerance and products used.
✨ Oily or Congestion-Prone Skin:
2–3x weekly may be beneficial if the barrier is healthy.
✨ Acne-Prone Skin:
This depends heavily on inflammation and sensitivity.
Aggressive exfoliation can actually worsen acne if the barrier is compromised.
✨ Barrier-Damaged or Reactive Skin:
You may need to pause exfoliation temporarily and focus on repair first.
This is why I love customizable exfoliation systems like the MeauxCo PhytaPeels and Exfoliate because skincare should be adjusted to the skin’s condition, not forced into a one-size-fits-all routine.
Your skin changes with:
Weather
Stress
Hormones
Medications
Lifestyle
Hydration levels
Your exfoliation routine should change too.
✨ Healthy skin is about balance not constantly “scrubbing the problem away.”

I didn’t realize I could be exfoliating up to three times a week- the things I learn with MeauxCo are so incredible!
