What Happens During a Professional Facial? ✨

Good morning, MeauxCo family! 💚

Today we’re breaking down what actually happens during a professional corrective facial. One of the biggest misconceptions in our industry is that facials are simply about relaxation. While they can absolutely be relaxing, our goal at MeauxCo is correction through education, customization, and barrier-first skin health.

As estheticians, we don’t perform the same facial on every client. Every treatment should be customized based on what the skin is communicating that day.

📝 Step 1: Client Consultation

Every facial begins before we ever touch the client’s skin.

Ask questions like:

• What are your skin goals?

• What products are you currently using?

• Any medications or health changes?

• What concerns you the most about your skin?

• Are there any contraindications?

Remember: Your consultation is just as important as your hands-on treatment.

🔍 Step 2: Skin Analysis

This is where we become skin detectives.

Look for:

✔ Hydration levels

✔ Barrier health

✔ Inflammation

✔ Pigmentation

✔ Congestion

✔ Acne type

✔ Sensitivity

✔ Texture

✔ Overall skin condition

Treat what you see not what the client thinks they have.

🫧 Step 3: Double Cleanse

The cleanse sets the stage for the entire treatment.

A proper cleanse removes:

• Makeup

• Sunscreen

• Sweat

• Oil

• Environmental debris

Without stripping the skin barrier.

Step 4: Professional Exfoliation

This is where your knowledge matters.

Ask yourself:

• Is this skin inflamed?

• Is the barrier compromised?

• Can this client tolerate a peel?

• Would an enzyme be more appropriate?

Exfoliation should always be intentional—not automatic.

🌿 Step 5: Corrective Treatment

Now we begin correcting the skin.

Depending on the client, this may include:

• PhytaPeels

• BAMBŪ Matrix

• Customized masks

• LED Therapy

• Barrier repair treatments

• Facial massage

• Lymphatic support

Remember:

We don’t treat products we treat skin.

💧 Step 6: Barrier Repair

Correction without repair creates inflammation.

Always finish by supporting the barrier with hydration and nourishment.

This is where products like Moisture+, Everything Oil, and Vital Balm help reinforce healthy skin function.

☀️ Step 7: Protection

Every daytime facial should finish with SPF.

Your client can’t maintain their results if they leave unprotected.

💡 Teacher Tip

One of the biggest mistakes new estheticians make is performing the same facial on every client.

A corrective esthetician asks:

“What does this skin need today?”

Not:

“What’s my favorite protocol?”

Healthy skin begins with proper assessment, customized treatments, and consistent homecare.
